Representatives from 11 organisations took part in a workshop organised by the Basque Energy Cluster on 4 May in Bilbao, to get to know about the project first hand and analyse together with the consortium members the possibilities that the project offers for their business.

The meeting took place at the same time as the project’s second plenary meeting, which gathered in Bilbao 25 experts from ten participating organisations. The project and its objectives were presented to a group of companies working in the electrical grid, storage and electric vehicles sectors, and the approach of the planned developments and their future business potential were discussed.

Representatives from IBIL, ORMAZABAL, ARTECHE, MERYTRONIC, ICUBE, SUPRA SYSTEMS, ENERGY REVIVAL, TECNALIA, CIC ENERGIGUNE, IK4-CIDETEC and IK4-IKERLAN debated with the project partners on the current digitalisation trends of traditional sectors, specifically the electric sector, and its implications at different levels, the perception of threat or opportunity in each case and the positive effect that initiatives such as SHAR-Q can produce in this context. The different work tables shall analyse matters such as the bursting of new actors in the electric ecosystem, the main barriers to promote collaboration, the key technological challenges, the progressive empowerment of the users, the evolution of the services offered and the impact that such changes can have on the way business is done in the medium term.

The results of the workshop will be analysed by the partners of the project and their main conclusions shall be used to complete the analysis phase during which they will assess the requirements from the entrepreneurial and R&D perspective. Throughout the year, other similar events have been held in the region of Güssing (Austria) and in Athens (Greece), where two of the pilots for this project are expected to be deployed. A work session is also being organised in the Algarve region in Portugal.

Throughout the project other similar events will be organised to keep different stakeholders up-to-date. If you wish to be informed about the events or the updates of the project join the STAKEHOLDER NETWORK clicking on the banner on the right to register.
